Cancer and Research Fellowships

Price Thomas Travelling Fellowship, awarded by the Travelling Surgical Society of Great Britain and Ireland. This prestigious bursary is awarded to surgical trainees at ST7 or above, or consultants in their first ten years after first appointment, who are based in the UK or Ireland. It is open to the following specialties: General surgery, including any of the subspecialties (Breast, Colorectal, Upper GI, Hepato-pancreatico-biliary, Endocrine), Vascular, Cardiothoracic, Plastic , Urology, General Paediatric, Transplantation or Military Surgery. The Travelling Surgical Society does not have members in Ophthalmic, EENT, OMFS or Orthopaedic Surgery, so regrettably the award cannot be made to surgeons in these specialties. The award holder will travel with the Travelling Surgical Society to Madrid 1st to 8th May 2014. All expenses including travel, accommodation, organized meals and course fees will be met by the society (a value of some £1500). The award holder will deliver two talks during the trip.   • ESSO Training Fellowships for young surgeons wishing to visit a specialist centre.

  • The TP Gunton Award is a research grant awarded annually by the BMA to assist research into public health relating to cancer.  Applications are invited from medical practitioners or research scientists for either research in progress or prospective research based in the UK.
